    yes the technique called "glassing" is very useful at getting the feeling of dings out. If the dent or ding is bad, with a bit of experience then steam can do a good job. i use this method(with a wall paper stripper, like Andrew) for bending cues back to straight and it can remove dents too, but like Andrew says, do so with caution!!!!!
    Very very bad dents require a filling and is a little more difficult to do. i seem to remember a website in the states that gives great advice on these and more subjects, if i can find it i will put link up, but please do not attempt any steam use without a bit of practice on an old club cue or something!!!!
