Budget'ish Snooker Cue

Hi Guys,

This is my first post so bare with me!

I have been using a riley cue for the last 3/4 months and im looking for a change. I have only been playing snooker regularly for about 4/5 months and now i cant get enough of it. I want to get a new cue as my current cue was £30.00 and although not a bad cue, it seems to pinch my beard when i have not shaven for a few days! . It has a 50/50 join on it.

I was looking to spend roughly £100 - £150 on a new cue with extension and so forth and have been looking on ebay for a new one. Theres a guy shipping from Canada (supposedly) handmade cues. They look good and the price is cheap and also have a nice extension and quick air-lock joint 3/4. The cue needs to be very smooth wood, i suppose ash. Ive heard Peardons are quite sticky so there out of the equation.

Sorry for the vague post, but im look for guidance on this one. Im not an expert as you can see.

Also the tip on my riley is really flat and giving me issues with cue ball control. I've tried sand paper to shape it but im too worried about messing it up!.

Any help would be appreciated!

The guy in canada is really one of a few woman in china (you merely need an address to register with ebay to make it look like your in the country of the address) and the package of a cue mini butt tele extension and ali case is all in worth about £50 including p+p from china. The case's are ok the telescopic extensions are too but they'll not fit many other decent cues as most makers use their own threads, The mini butts are resin and the cues are one step up from the crap you find in the high street chain stores namely bce and riley brands also chinese but painted.

For 2nd hand on the budget you have carry on looking on ebay. Post a link here if you want an second opinion theres plenty of members who know whats good and whats not. If you get something like this for instance http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=011 youve got a real bargain.

For new, I suggest you do the same plus look at the proper cue makers sites
then again post here fo a 2nd opinion or two.

for £150 you will get a cue from craftsman made to your own spec.i rate them very highly and i have had most makes of cue including parris (paragon and special)osborne(black plate) and north west cues amongst others.give them a try

I got a craftsman Majestic delivered the other day, not had the chance to play with it but it feels very good and looks stunning!

Those craftman cues aren't even hand made though are they?
Wouldn't it be better to spend 150 on a handmade budget wooldridge?

They are hand made, and for this kind of budget I'd find it hard to imagine anything better. Very safe bet I'd say.

Ah, I was confused because on the description of the cheaper models it said 'hand spliced', the more expensive models were described as being totally hand made. I might consider one of these myself

I'm not going to bid, I was just searching for them on ebay and that come up, thought it was quite strange for how much people usually bid for them.

I think that the two are of quite similar quality and price, so I'd imagine it would be hard to sepetate.

I've used Master Cue's for a fair while and can't complain at all other than a problem with a broken thread in the joint even though I treated it very well.

I've only held one craftsman cue and that's my own new one, after this it's hard to imagine not buying another craftsman come the time for another new one.
