Thousands of em mostly living on rice

How the wood is cut, planed, turned and shaped is of no matter really it's all about selecting the best wood, drying it, letting it rest in stages , the quality of the splicing, the finish, the weight it's balance and feel. That all comes with experience, Maybe Charlie Choo the cue will one day have that experience and start using quality materials there again maybe not.

Dave Coutts is one and a very good cue maker at that. He really does hand plane the shaft from start to finish too, thats why you will wait about 12 weeks or more for a cue from him.

I can't speak for anyone else, but all my splice work is done with hand planes.
