  • New Cue for a new player

Hi everyone, im new to the site and too the world of snooker im just looking for some advice.
I want to get a new cue (we'll i havnt got one to start with lol), im thinking about getting a good one though with a budget of about £300.
I want one that will last me a long time and one i can progress with, does anyone think im being abit stupid to spend that much on a cue, just to start with?

Ive been looking at John Parris and Woodridge cues, although to be honest iv read that Parris cues are not to much good these days? and i'll be paying for the name mainly?

Im from South Wales and iv heard Trevor White cues are top quailty, but the only problem is i cant seem to find an website or any contact address to find out were too he is? Can anyone point me in the right direction.

    Many Thanks
    Matt

It's rather strange to spend 300 quid on a cue if you're just starting, how do you know you will even like the game?
My advice would be to buy a cheap cue off eBay for 20 quid or so, this should be more than enough to see whether you like the game or not

        Fair point.

The other side of the coin is that playing with a great cue might help you to enjoy the game more. But yes you should be sure you like snooker before you fork out that sort of cash. On the other hand you might be wealthy and £300 is nothing to you .

Thanks for that LWB il send him a message, I went down my local snooker hall last week with a few mates and really got into it, so will definalty be going back. He let me use his other cue which was a riley which he said he had from argos. Dont get me wrong the cue ok but wasnt to my taste.
Like i said i want a cue i can progress with and enjoy on the way, and i know £300 quite abit to splash but if the cue is top quailty then i dont mind.
Thanks for the comments guys, you have got me thinking.
