  • Re-finishing shaft

Can anyone give either some good advice or even better a detailed guide to re-finishing a shaft please?

I've already got good answers back from ADR147, so I know what I need to do the job basically, wire wool (0000) raw linseed oil, and beeswax.

take your time and don't over sand. If you feel that something might go wrong send it to a pro, Mike, Trevor or Keith or Andrew.

Thanks, although I'm sure all of those guys would do a great job I want to learn to do it myself, mostly because I'll enjoy it

That's what I like about you mate, always happy to help lol. Well I think I basically know what I'm doing, all I really need I guess is a little pointer about the application and timing of the oil and wax. Keeping in mind that I'm just about clever enough to try it on a spare cue that I don't play with first.

Myself I had linseed oil and simply bee company wax from ebay good stuff. Trevor doesn't use wax just oil. So I didn't wax my current cue for ages but I just did the butt last week and oiled the shaft.
Craftsman sell wax as well don't they, not tried that's about a fiver isn't it.
Might try your secret stuff ADR looks interesting!
