  • Tony Wilshaw cues?

    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody would reccomend a cue from Tony Wilshaw.

A friend of mine is considering getting one of his cues and asked my opinion however I have never seen one and would like to hear any comments you may have.

I advised him to get a Trevor White but he does not want to spend over £200 and has been told Tony starts his cues from £195.

    Any help will be appreciated.
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

my advice would be find the extra money! £200 or £250 what is £50 these days - a decent curry.

that said i bought one of these on ebay for next to nothing a couple of years ago and it was a nice cue.

Yes the cues that Tony Wilshaw makes are of good quality, i can tell you this because i have just purchased one from him for £195 myself. My friend has a parris cue and i cannot really see that much difference between them. If your friend does eventually settle for a TW cue he will more than likely not be disappointed.
I love the game of snooker :) (even though my mates think that its just a load of balls :D )

Some members here have also recommended Craftsman cues, or cues made by a member, Bitter (Welsh pool trading) here, who are all in your friend's price range. From what I have read, these are high quality cues for a great price.
Also, some are saying the Thai cues such as Unique are also very nice. I think you can get one for that budget including shipping.

I would spend the extra for a Trevor White!
You only do it once wont cost that much more!
You'd probably get a Northwest cue for £195 and John Higgins uses one of those (Kev Muncaster).
Does he want something specific (I had a custom because I did) because if not I'd go somewhere to try some cues for that price.

              Hi,

I have a Tony Wilsahw cue, though it's getting on a bit now, I bought mine back when he charged £160 for a 3/4 cue.It is a good cue, though I can't really speak for his cues at present since I've heard there may have been some changes at his shop. The only niggle I ever had with mine is the slim profile of the butt, which seemed TW's preference when I bought mine (around an inch diameter). Otherwise couldn't fault them, and quite a few players use them around the Burslem / Stoke area, I'd buy another if I were looking for a cue in that price range again.

              Hope this helps, Steve.

Thank you to everybody who has replied, your advice is greatly appreciated.

My friend however has totaly blindsided me and ordered a cue from Northwest cues costing £225 including mini butt and extenda, which I think is a good a price.

                Thank you all once agiain:snooker:
