  • Snooker cue with wrap

Does anyone have any experience with snooker cues that, for want of a better description, look like pool cues? Meaning with a linnen wrap. I am looking at getting one, but I need to know a good brand to choose in this particular field. Any help would be appreciated.

          Also known as a joke.

There are no snooker cues made with linen wraps, they remain the domain of some US pool players with sweaty dirty palms who dont know how to clean themselves or their cue.

Ive seen a number of them, so they are there. A few players at the Paul Hunter Classic 07 had some. So please investigate before you speak mate

A cue is a cue mate what name you put before the word cue is up to you. Call it whatever you like and have whatever spec you want all I'm saying is a cue with a linen wrap is known as a pool cue. No doubt some Wally somewhere has a linen wrap on a cue with a spec suited for snooker but 99.9999% of people would call it a pool cue thats been modified.

as far as i am aware nobody makes a snooker cue with a linen wrap - if you wanted one the way to do it would be to buy the cue and wrap it in irish linen yourself.

Why does there seem to be wall the size of Hadrian's between pool and snooker eqiupment? Said tongue-in-cheek, I think it's the in infamous UK 'island mentality' that shines through in this department as well?

I think Wity's comment about "they remain the domain of some US pool players with sweaty dirty palms who dont know how to clean themselves or their cue" is wrong.

I'd estimate that more than 95% of all pool cues around the world that are not from the rack have irish linen wrap. I have very dry hands, and I still prefer to play with a linen wrap around my cue. Also, I pride myself on taking regular showers!

Of course it's wrong. I just enjoy taking the p iss.

And long live the Island mentality you may be on the continent and a part of Europe but even if they filled in the Channel we will never be.

I managed to find one, Buffalo makes them. Basically pool cues but smaller, I'm gonna buy one maybe next month, they're pretty cheap, about 80 euros. I prefer the pool-look to snooker, so well see how it shoots. Ill post some pics when I get one.

You're right about that. There is a German Cue maker (Oliver Stops) who makes snooker cues with this kind of "grip". The cues look very nice. But for someone who is not used to playing with a "grip" it might feel a bit strange.
