  • Value for Money

I've recently started playing snooker and I would like to pick up a decent cue for a reasonable price. Whilst my budget can be fairly flexible, I don't feel I would be justified in spending several hundred pounds on a TW or MW cue right now. I guess all I am after is the best bang for my, err... pound!

Although I'm tempted to just pick up a cheap cue from a local sports shop, I am more than happy to pay a little extra if it's worth it for someone new to the game.

I've been looking around eBay for a bargain, but I don't really know what to look for (for example, this item looks okay to me, but who are Champion?). I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

To be honest it doesent matter what you get seing as youre starting out....

bottom line is get the basics right...stance,aim,cue action etc.....dont go spending money on something if at the end of the day youre hopless at the game.....

I also started a thread about this. I'm also new to the game and I want a decent cue. So i came down to 2 cues, which are: MasterCraft Retribution and CraftsMan 147 (or Panther). Eventually i'm going to go with the craftsman altough these 2 brands are known for good value for your money. Mastercraft is a little bit cheeper i think but due to recommendations from many people towards the Craftsman cues, i chose them.

If the prices of these cues are out of your budget range then i should just buy a cheep machine-made one.

You can look at my thread "MasterCraft or Craftsman", maybe you can pick up something there about making your choice.

You are absolutely right. I'm new to snooker but decided to buy a cue after 3 months of thinking wether i want to spend money to buy a cue or not.
If you know it's not a temporarly thing to play snooker you can spend some money i think.

there is no such thing really - they keep going bust and sell cheap and nasty chinese cues.
