  • Ebay cues not ending up that bad.

Brought this so called Lewis and Wilson cue ages ago and was annoyed when I recieved it that the ebony butt was infact painted and also in gold writing had a clubs name on it. So stuck it in the cupboard and left it alone. But after seeing another post (Think it was Wity) decided to see what was underneath the black paint, and if the splices were transfers/stickers. And wow! All ash! And not too bad either. And the splices are infact not stickers but proper splices. The yellow/gold one is some kind of burr, then a green stained maple and the darker wood i have no idea what that is either. So I will continue to strip it as the cue is a really nice piece of ash (For under £20), and get it regrained, oiled, waxed and polished and when its done ill post a piccy up. Nice present hopefully for my better halfs Dad who plays 8 ball for local pub

You refering to the mini butt I sanded ? (sanded 2 others since both were ebony and painted as they were not 100% black and have turned out bostin)

These foreign cuemakers think all us islanders ae kinky over black ebony I reckon.

Or the cuecaft cue I bought off ebay likewise assuming it was ebony for £30 then left the feedback: "It's crap, wanna buy it back for a tenner?" As that too too had a nice surprise underneath once sanded etc.

Not bad at all in the long run. Im hoping to bring this back to life. Looked at shaft, and has 15 chevrons and nice tight straight grain. Not that i will use it, just fun seeing what it will turn out like. Feel good factor too.....im recycling

Did you sell that one again? if so you make a profit

It's pretty good, because the grains actually match at the joint.
