I've said the same thing Trev - last sentance of reply to Archalf - if Martin wants to send the cue he has to anyone for assessment or review, that's his prerogative. Once an item has been paid for it is up to whoever owns it what they do with it. The same offer goes out to anyone who wants to see any of my cues, but considering I don't know who you people are, and according to other threads posted on the forum, the general consensus seems to be that there are a small nucleus (or clique) of people on the forum, who from my first joining have consistantly tried to rubbish anything to do with me, even though there are a number of members on here that I have taken the time to talk through the making of their first ever snooker cues; then I shalln't be sending anyone of my cues out for review, gratis, if they want one they can pay for it like anyone else

You said you would not mind to make any cue in any forum against anyone I wish to name, at any venue I choose to suggest...so, I suggested you make a cue for the member of the snooker forum to do a review against the cue makers on this forum.

Trevor White has gladly accepted the challenge. Since you also said you wanted to see if the cue makers would put their money where their mouth is when you openly challenged anyone to build a cue against you for 1000 pounds, I though you would be more than happy to have the chance to prove how wonderful you truly are as a master cue maker.

I hate to remind you that you were the one who suggested to do a challenge against any cue maker, not me or any other cue makers...and yet, once there is a taker to your challenge, you are now backing down.

Seems like you are the one who would not put your money were your mouth is. Also sounds like you are afraid you would not get a good review.

I never rubbish anything you said, just asking you questions, and pointing out my confusion, based on what you said on this forum. If I have misunderstood you, all you need to do is to clarify.

I am sure all the ones who are knowledgable on cues would only be too happy to find another great master cue maker in the market place regardless of how they may feel about you.

Asking a customer to pay for a cue and then send it to many people to try out and write a review, which is only going to help you with your business if you are really that good, is totally unfair to the paying customers in my opinion. Besides, who would want to see many people trying out his personal cue? You, as the cue maker, will be the only one with the incentive to do so, provided that you are confident in your work, to build a good reputation for yourself.

If you are afraid you will not get a good review from the forum members, then having your customer sending his cue out will still give you the same result, except that this time your customer is also going to suffer.

I am quite disappointed personally, to see you put up a challenge to build cues against any cue maker anywhere in the world just to back down from your words once Trevor White accepted your challenge.

How could you expect your customers to trust you if you cannot keep your words and follow through with what you proposed?

Anyway, that is it for me, I believe I have seen and heard enough to draw my own conclusion about you.

        bad cues

This thread must have surpassed your wildest expectation Archalf.
How about, instead of a 'make-off' we organise a break-off where all the interested parties gather in a circle, cheered on by their seconds and gripping their carefully planed shafts proceed to bludgeon each other with the butt.Last man standing or with an unbroken joint would then be titled master cue maker.
Or alternatively we could be more tolerant.

Cocked hat...wouldn't say happy. Not surprised is probably more accurate I have to say, and am now happy to sit back and let other people form their own opinions which they will as I have nothing more to say on the matter in an open forum.

There are quite a few people on here who know me and realise I don't spout "drivel" without good reason. There are a few people who also have strong views on the subject but for various reasons have choosen not to come forward to express these views and I am disapointed in this but I must respect their desire to remain "off the record"

Mr Auld is undoubtedly confident in his own ability as a cuemaker and good luck to him for that. It just happens we share different opinons and clearly we are both entitled to them as long as it does not become personal or slanderous, the world would be a boring place if we were all the same. We each I guess tie our flag to the mast of whichever cuemaker for whatever reason we deem to be " the best or the favourite" and again this makes for a less boring world and also for often interesting and animated discussions on here as well
Its not how well you play its how good you look playing that counts!

i like this idea - sounds fun, also i would have a good chance of being the master cue maker - its the only way that would ever happen!

OK --this thread is sensible and takes a lot of heat out of the situation - I haven't replied to any of the threads that followed as I received a number of phone calls and pm's asking me to leave it and ignore the comments, so have done as requested.
Ironically, my enquiries and orders from my website have actually increased, so thanks guys for all the publicity

I know!!! Why don't all the cue makers here each make a cue, and fight each other to the death a la Mortal Kombat style in a cage?!?! Whoever walks out alive will be the winner!!! That'll be a showdown worth putting on TV!!! Lighten up guys

I have no issue with any other cue makers, so I think I'll be a spectator rather than a participant.

                      bullsh*t!

personally speaking, i have not constantly rubbished you. just occasionally...

but let's be honest, sometimes you deserve it. 'superior' lacquer finish...

anyway, what's interesting here is the 'general consensus' (or clique - it works both ways) you have mentioned.

i don't think anyone has gone out of their way to rubbish you. you make comments, then make some more, then make some more, until eventually someone who may have a different opinion responds.

then we get - "leave poor old keith alone, he's only trying to help us".... yawn.

did the 'general consensus' stop to think that maybe the people with different opinions were trying to help also by offering their thoughts? obviously not.

as for myself, if you say something correct, i'll agree, if it's incorrect, i'll disagree.

and anyone who doesn't like me for that can go f*ck themselves cos i'm not doing it for any benenfit. moreover i am helping people make the right choices.

are you surprised judging by the reaction of a small minority when someone last disagreed with keith. some people can't be helped so why bother?

                              lol. poor wity...

i'm only on this forum for a bit of light relief, but i know a bit about cues so when something needs to be said, or advice given, i'll say it.

i'm not here to promote myself or my business. i don't need to. so when i make the effort to comment on something, the forum members should appreciate it's simply good advice. no more, no less.

and i'm afraid i don't have much patience for those without the intelligence to understand this...
