  • Cue alterations???

    Hi,

Can anyone please suggest a good cue doctor in or around Leeds?

I am thinking of taking 1 inch of the top of my cue to increase the tip size.

    Thanks

thats a lot of wood to chop off, your cue will feel like totally different, be careful and think about what your doing.

          Thanks all.

Not sure what to do still lol. I have a parris cue which have had for 7 years or so and really enjoy playing with it but the tip size is now 8.1mm. I brought a new wooldridge cue about 9-10 months ago which I get on with well but prefer my old parris cue. Does it make that much of a difference taking that inch of the top?

          Thanks

I think it will at snooker but wont at pool. I've played pool with a 55" snooker cue and it's been fine, not really noticed it (played against one of the countries top pool players the other week who plays with a 44" cue) but playing snooker with it was a different kettle of fish every other shot it seemed I was reaching for a mini butt.

              Good point Wity.

The cue is currently 57 1/2 inches and i think would only need to take about 3/4 of a inch.

Get it round to Craftsman cues in Kippax then. it's an easy five minuite job really shoudn't cost as much as the post to and fro any other cue doc.

Bob Ackers is a name i've come across a few times mainly at uk8ball.com apparently highly recommended but hard to track down thats the first time I've seen his contact details given though i knew he was up there somewheres near Leeds.

Do you have a cue of his Snooker Warrior?

no wity,i play with a paul morris special,(shameless plug) but i have been to him(bob akers) with cues (both mine and friends) in the past for new ferrules etc, he does come highly recommended for alterations , but i dont think he makes cues from scratch,

Just had my 1 piece mike wooldridge cue at craftsman cues 2 have some weight added 2 it. Did a great job at a great price, cracking set up there, recommend them 2 any1. Northwest cues is class 2.

I like a shorter cue, because I am not so tall, and I do not like to use too long a bridge or hold the cue too forward. But it really depends on your form. Why dont you try out some cues that are like 56" or so to see if you like them?

Thinking of doing the same cos I'm struggling with my small tip. Hoping to improve my potting with a larger tip. Have you had it done yet and how much did it cost?
