my opinion is irrelevant really cos people like different things. however, for something unusual white/black would look good i reckon. white alone has been done many times and looks classy without being too much.

veneers tend to come in two fixed sizes, thin and thick, so you are governed by that as to how much is showing at top. which will usually be anywhere between 0.5" for thin to 2" for thick. depends on the angle of splice.

if you want a honest opinion i would scrap the whole lot and stick with a plain ebony butt or if you want a splice go for something thats subtle but nice like 1 large amboyna burr, thuya burl with a thick maple veneer or curly maple looks good these splices always look better than all that fancy crap imho.

i agree with you joe ,i also prefer a single splice with veneer
but what a boring world if everyone took the safer simple option
                    :snooker:
i say, if you like it go for it ! each to there own

to a degree, i agree. but some 'fancier' designs do look good.

one man's meat is another man's poison eh?

some do but you have to blend the colours and the woods well for example in you cues mike your cc02 and cco2a are simple and look very nice and your cc07 is the nicest cue i have ever seen but if you replace the maple veneer with say a red 1 it would look crap you have to get the mix of colours and woods just right to get the perfect look.

quite right. choosing the right colour veneer can be very difficult. what seems like a good idea in your head sometimes simply does not work.
