The best cue I have ever player with was made by "Hunt and O'byrne".
It belongs to one of my uncles.
He told me that Jimmy White helped him to order this cue from H&O ages ago.
What makes the cue so different is the quality of the ash shaft.
When I tried to hit the ball with that cue, it felt like every bit of force was concentrated at the cue tip and transferred to the cue ball very effectively.
To be more precise, it took me 40% less effort to screw back for the same distance with my John Parris cue.
The shaft was very solid yet not very stiff.
At the same time, the feedback from the shaft to my hand is so clear, direct and accurate.
My uncle told me that cue makers in the past used to allow about 15 years for the timber to become stable before making cues.
However, not much cue maker do so nowadays.
