  • English 8ball cues?

I was watching the world 8ball championship on sky (Jason Twist vs Carl Morris) and noticed both players had cues which look like they have that thread wrap on the butt.
Does anyone know the make of these cues ?

Maybe Mike thinks they're gay because they have extra protection on the butt???

i know jason twist his cue has had a straight maple extension/splice put in as the cue was too short due to re-tapering and re-ferrelling
not to sure of the make but i know hes had it 20yrs + it didnt cost alot i think he said £20 - £25 (which i know 20yrs ago is a reasonable amount)
                  hope this helps

jasons cue is an old riley prestige that was endorsed by steve davis in the early 80's, plain maple with a maccasar ebony butt, they were as Trigger ( code for shirtlifter from Ilfracombe) alludes to £19.99 when they were originally sold.

The wooden piece was dowled in by a guy called Roy Watts in Plymouth probably about 20 years ago. Roy does a bit of cue doctoring in Plymouth and has done a lot for Andy Hicks over the years..

                    Hope this helps
Its not how well you play its how good you look playing that counts!

I'm sure carl morris just has green insulation tape on his cue over the splices. not sure why though - perhaps just a temporary fix that is now permanent as its been on there for a while.

i will try and find out.

From what I remember Carl hasn't a clue about his cue, it certainly isn't branded in any way. He had it from an early age and is an absolute piece of crap really but its what works for him. He's had cues made by some of the top cue makers, some even offering him cues when he won the world title and he just sold them on. Just shows you, doesn't matter who makes the cue or what it looks like, if you can play with it that's all that matters.
