Couldn't access the messages as I wasn't a member, but to shed some light on it, pleas epost the following on my behalf;
"The reason I have a tape wrap around the cue is because I damaged it when I slammed it against the floor when I missed a dolly.
Because I do not know what my cue is made of, and the fact that my cue is only 12.3 ounces, I just didn't trust anyone to repair it since I have had it for 14 years and I can't play with heavy cues!
I bought it for £20 without a ferrule and had to sand it down but I have to say it's the best £20 I've ever spent!
The damage was done about 5 years ago and is not extensive enough to require repair, which is why I've taped it."
12.3 oz is he sure - i have never seen a cue that light.
Dont forget though that cue is about 50 inches in length and very thin so it could easily be 12.3oz when you consider there are full length cues with 11 mm tips on at 16oz
