  • Ricky Waldens Cue

The China final, are Ronnie and Ricky both playing with a John Parris "Traditional"?

  • #2
Yes they are, though Ronnie's is an Ultimate whilst Walden's is currently a standard Traditional. Though his rise to fame this week will possibly mean a badge change once JP gets his hands on it!

Walden must be a great player if he can win a title with a parris traditional...

Aye but it would have been made by JP himself that would be the difference.

He had it brand new in Late June 2008 just days before he went out to Thailand and John parris made it for him specially as it is longer than standard and is made to same spec as his old cue.

A lot of players are winning with cues made by this John fellow, may be he knows a thing or two about making cues?

John Parris is a great cuemaker...
But the problem is that you can't buy a cue made by John himself....

What do you mean with 700?Is there a special edition that you can order?
If you mean the Parris Ultimate it starts from about 520 and is definately not made by John himself...

By "definitely not made by John himself," do you mean to say he has no part in the cue building process at all?

May I ask why you are so definite about this piece of information? Do you work for John, been to his shop and saw that he was not even there when cues were being built, or simply gathered this from John himself?

Look whether JP makes the cue or not or is only partly involved doesn't really matter. He has staff there to make all the cues that sell under the Parris name. Just like most other cue makers, they nearly all have other members of staff there doing various work on cues, so long as the final result means the cue plays well, who really cares what input the named cue maker had in producing said cue. There isn't some special ingredient that JP puts into cues he personally works on, all cue makers can turn out quality cues and some poor efforts, cue making is a very subjective thing, I feel a lot of you pay far too much attention into who makes the cue and what it looks like rather than how it plays.
