  • Is one cue enough?

    Is just one cue enough?
One of the biggest variables I find requiring adjustments to my cuing is cloth.
In my club nearly every table having been re-clothed at different times with different cloth plays differently.
If a table with a "mature" surface slick like a waxed beaver requires a 17 oz. cue, would a new heavy duty but finely shaved hairshirt-type cloth demand a 19 oz. cue for proper power and control?

Do any pros use different cues for different tables?
Do any pros use different cues for different shots as a golfer might?

These may be a ridiculous questions... but what do you think?

    Good post.....NOT
Have you ever watched snooker on tv come on ? did you ever see Ronnie go to his cue case and take out a short cue to roll in the black like a putter.......
Christ the game is hard enough with one cue, without carrying 14 to go and play...LOL
    Just having some fun Noel.

I would only carry one cue, and I do only have one cue to use.

It isn't like American Pool where the professionals have a break cue, a jump cue and a playing cue. Snooker players should have one cue only!

Remember the less variables the better.

      Good observation though.

I like to have one cue that I hold at my chair, which I wipe down non stop when my opponent is at the table, it has a very glossy reflective coating, just to distract my opponent. When he asked me to stop, I would stop, but the reflective glare will still affect him. I dont shoot with that cue at all. When my opponent asks me why, I will tell him it is none of his business. This usually messes up my opponent really badly.

Quality post poolqjunkie - i guess after wiping your cue to create some glare you send off for a waxed beaver to distract everyone!

may be different shafts for different shots--Like may be a very stiff shaft for my power follow, a very small and powerful shaft for my draw, a smaller tip for my cushion shot, and a shaft will little squirt for my side spin...etc Is it allowed?

...you're just making a new record break and you miss an easy black...
What you do then? Smash your cue against wall and break it to few pieces How you gonna play then? You need to have few spare cues.

It has nothing to do with table cloth, but a lot with your temper...

A nice 22oz 3/4 cue is good to take along aswell as your playing cue. If you lose you can beat the guy with the unscrewed butt
