  • master cues?

I was in my club and a guy was using a new cue which was a master cue. has anyone got any info about them? A mate who plays to a good standard is looking for a new cue and asked me to find some info about quality ,price and where they can purchased(we're in kent),or is he better off saving up and buying from one of the guys who post on here? All i know is mater cues come from thailand, but don't know their price's.Look forward to any info.

I play snooker with a master cue and I have no complaints at all.

I have had cues by all the top makers, Trevor White, Wooldridge, Coutts & Robin Cook to name a few and the master cue I have is every bit as good as any of them.

Craftsman in leeds stock them also Martin Chesworth in Sheffield so I think you would have to mail order from Kent unless you fancy a long drive. ADR on here may be able to help though.

I play with a 1 piece and as I said its perfect, but I have heard a few horror stories about the joints so may want to steer clear of the jointed cues.
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

Between £150 & £200 will by you a good master cue from craftsman, martin chesworth is a bit more expensive.

There are also some good master cues on ebay at the moment.

I have a 3/4 master cue and its an excellent cue. Just go to their website and email Ukrit and he will send you a price list no problems. He is good to deal with also. ADR147 on this site is also good to deal with or ask questions.

            I bought a PBL1 3/4 cue, 2 extentions and Leather case for USD$450.00

I heard Ukrit had sold up and they weren't as good as they were. Splice problems.
Last three times I've been to Craftsman they had none in.
I have played with a few there a couple of years ago though. Those ones were as good as anything I'd seen for the money but like I said I've been put off recommeding them.

Stu Green Greenbaize sells them too.
Not much help south of Stockport sorry.

I have been dealing with Ukrit for the last year after meeting him at the World Championships and have got over 100 cues from him since, have about 40-50 in stock at present. He's definitely still in charge over there.
Have been too busy of late with a new club and have let the foul4.com site go, but hope to get everything back up and running soon along with a new storefront with Mastercue, Unique and O'Min cues. They will include some superb custom cues I got made by Ukrit.
I rate them highly and know some of the younger pro's play with them including Vincent Muldoon and Michael Georgiou. Ukrit made Vincent's one himself.

I have heard since my last post that the quality issues were from a while back when Ukrit had a partner come in but that Ukrit is now back running the show and the standard is good again.

beware that when you import them direct from o'min or mastercue yourself you will get a bill through the post at a later date for the tax. (import duty plus vat)

The best cue I have ever played with is a Master Cue.
What I want to point out is Master Cue does occasionally produces some stunning cues!

The best thing I can say about Master Cues is their excellent balance.
I asked a few cue experts to try to feel how heavy my cue is with their bare hands.
They all came up with 17oz to 17.5oz.
Yet, according to an electronic balance, my cue is 18.02oz.

Let me put it in this way.
Due to the well-balance work, I can control my cue as easy as a 17oz cue and at the same time deliver the power of a 18oz cue.
                            (Clear...?)

At the price range your friend is considering, Master Cue is a really good choice.
                            (But try before buy!!!)

The balance of a cue is no more a sign of quality than it's tip size, length, or butt diameter nor does a heavier cue bring more power to a stroke in fact it's proven to be the opposite.
Hi there, i will start by saying that for the most part your comments are right on (for machined cues yes) but (not for genuine handmade cues) except for the over heavy weight comment.

These are actually the exact details you would supply to any quality cuemaker & would expect to receive a "handmade" cue of those specs in return at a price!

In point of fact handmade cues are basically several pieces of wood crafted together in such a fashion to create a work of art, "not just a cue" & no two "handmade" cues are exactly the same, even if they look very simular, yet they could play very differently, the ash, even if cut from the same branch can have totally different playing qualities, more flex/less weight/ better arrows, even a distinct sound & so on ! "naturally ballanced" means just that! (no weights have been added into the cue) i have " handbuilt" collectors cues that i'm very proud to own. These cues are both rare & beautiful at the same time, a truly amazing look & feel of quality!

I did try to have a quality cue made in the U.K to my custom cue specs, see below:

poker stiff, close grain ash shaft (5 cheverons maximum).
                              total length 58 inches long.
                              short brass 9.75mm ferrule.
                              butt diam of 30.5mm. + 0.5mm
solid brass 3/4 joint set at 16" (male in the top shaft if possible).
                              balanced at 18".
                              naturally weighted 19.5oz (-0.5oz + 0.0oz. )
                              solid ebony butt .
                              butt joint & solid 6" ebony mini-butt.

the quotes i got ranged from £305 to just under £500 !

"MASTER CUE " made this cue for me (custom) & also added the following after several emails & pictures to confirm that I was totally satisfied:

24 indivdual hand splices in the solid ebony butt which measures 23"
                              (splices include thuya/maple/ebony) .

the cost.......£190.00 all in & delivered it free of charge !
it took 12 weeks to arrive.

It plays fantastic has the feel of real quality about it & goes through the cueball like a hot knife through butter, really looks amazing too,
                              well worth the wait.

IMHO, "Master cue" are without doubt a world class cuemaker !
                              don't miss!
