Ash shaft

I am planning to make a cue from scratch, I've re-spliced a few cues and now want to try it.

Does anybody know where i could get some decent ash for the shaft. I've tried looking on the internet and cant find much. I've also contacted peradon and asked if could buy a blank off them because i dont live far away, but they said they hardly get enough for themselves.

Any ideas?

fitchett and wollacots in nottingham it is 38mm square and you can pick your own from as little as 1 metre. they leave you to pick your own and also have an off cut bin off various exotic hardwoods so sometimes can get your butt wood cheaper than usual
