Having said that, I really love it - at only a little over £100, it must represent one of the best buys for a handmade cue in the UK ...
Good points ... very nice grain practically dead straight down the shaft - chevron side is fine too - maybe 8 evenly spaced chevrons ... 3/4 joint and butt-joint are perfectly fitted - I can't fault them ... oh and then there's the feel of the natural oil shaft - sooooo much nicer than my previous varnished cue ...
It has airlock joints which, if you are a poser, are cool and an added benefit is the minibutt also fits the shaft (very handy if as well as snooker, you play pool at my local pub with a confined table) ...
Paul (bitter on this forum) recommended the telescopic mini-butt and I thank him for that - at 6' and half an inch, I can reach almost anything with that ... I haven't had to use the club's "fishing tackle" once yet ...
the ferrule is 10.1mm (measured on a micrometer) on my particular cue which I think is larger than he normally reckons but it's fine ... the tip supplied is very hard and I may well change it to something softer but I thought I'd give it a go ...
of course, it's not perfect otherwise it'd be a lot more money but the only "faults" if you want to call them that, are cosmetic ... the ebony butt has a one inch brown "scar" ... the four hand-splices aren't dead even (maybe 3mm difference from shortest to longest) and the chevrons are maybe 20 degrees from vertically aligned with the top of the butt - although, 20 degrees the right way if you know what I mean ...
so all-in-all, I'm delighted with it and would recommend Welsh Pool Trading cues to anyone ... well except that leads me on to one final point ...
it's got a badge on it that says "handmade in the UK by Welsh Pool Trading" which some of my more humorous friends mistakenly read as "Trotter's Independent Trading" ...
Bitter, couldn't you change your company's name to "Welsh Magic" or "Welsh Wizard" or summat ... only joking Bitter ... I love my "Welsh Dragon" ...

it is only my opinion but a natural oil finish is a world apart ...

Craftsman are good and around that money!
Not a massive fan of Peradon now (used to own one) but the one personal desogn one I've seen (this was made pre cuewizard) is fantastic.
The oiled over the laquer makes a big difference for a kick off!
