whilst dealing with kev muncaster - north west, i stumbled on one of the cues he had made for john higgins, and the butt was very very noticeably slimmer than any cue ive seen... just wondered if that's john's preference or if pros favour this style? I'd have asked but it was busy in kev's cowshed.

john has odd taste in cues - he likes the chevrons in the other direction aswell. -
yes and cues only around 55" long very unusual for any height of player...but fair play he generates spin no problems....Comment

Joe Davis has very interesting views on this topic in his books, he was a firm advocate of short cues. However, he was a lso a firm advocate of a short backswing, which I suppose was possibly due to the different playing conditions of those days.Comment
