one piece cues

im not saying that about arris cues ive loved playing with mine and i think they are all very well built cues, but they are made to solid for me and it doesnt suit my style of play, the reason i have only say that about 1 piece cues is i have experieced it myself aswell as other people telling me they give your more feel. And also personally down to personal preference aswell

I think we are misunderstanding each other here.

What I meant by my post was that not ALL Parris cues of a particular model or style will be solid or stiff, as it will depend on the individual piece of timber used in the shaft, and, will also depend on the overall specs of the cue.

Also, there's no reason a good 3/4 cue can't feel as good as a good one piece cue, again, it depends on the specs and timber of the cue along with how it's been made.

In my honest opinion, people get the idea of one piece and 3/4 being different mainly becuase the 3/4 cues tend to be a little heavier by nature of how they're built, and, there's nothing like weight in a cue to kill the sound of the contact.

Maybe this has something to do with this idea of more feel to a one piece cue, who knows.

i know what your saying, and your most proobly right, one cue doesnt tell the same story for every cue, its my preference at the end of the day and maybe the weight of the jiont has affected the fell of the cue when playing with it, maybe thats why for me it may be better getting a one piece cue.

ive played with 6 one piece cues, and compared to the cue i have at the moment they all have given me more precise control around the blackspot, it is down to my own personal preference at the end of the day and i started off this thread asking advice on the best one piece cue maker, not why i want to change my cue now, i cant be the only person who thinks this as why do many top pros play with one piece cues anyway.

Your own personal experience is what you should go with, you'll know better than anyone what you prefer.

As for who is the 'best' maker of one piece cues, the answer is simple.....no-one.

There isn't a maker who specialises in one piece cues, and if anyone tells you they do, you're being mislead.

Again, ask some relevant questions and follow your own instincts, you'll probably be right and will find what you were looking for..

ok then, im not sure if any are more trustworthy than others with build quality etc. as im not going to spare any expense to an extent, and i take it there i no general preference to a cue that gives that little bit more control i take it

I'd say there a great deal between 'ALL' the cue makers, but far less so between some of them.

This is the exact info trevor gave me when i wanted to joint my cue, and after being reassured it would feel just fine with a joint a decided to put the joint in. And i have found the cue to be just as responsive as my last 1 piece custom cue! very true words.

One piece cues feel great when playing with one, but carrying them around is a bit of a pain...
I have used both and prefer the feel of a one piece...
Stanford cues use a joint in their cues that is supposed to make a two peice cue feel like a one piece...If this works then it would be good, maybe more makers could use this joint or simular thing in their cues or at least offer it as an option.

Funnily enough, it will make him a better player in a roundabout way.

If he's not always thinking that his cue is ruining his game and is settled with a 1 piece cue, then psychologically he will be at an advantage.

i didnt mean psychologically agreed having a cue you like puts your mind at ease and your not thinking of your cue all the time when playing but as for potting balls positional play and so on thats all down to your own ability not what cue you use.
