Just had a look at that thread, makes my niave question a little less embarrasing.
I have a McDermott pool cue that has joint protectors, does anything like that exist for snooker cues?
best thing to do is be careful where you leave your butt and especially avoid putting foreign objects up it (wity!) and don't screw the 6 inches into it too hard.

I have some rubber bungs that might be the right size actually. Might look at those when i get home. Ill let you know kiss
