  • Mastercraft or welshpool?

I really like this design of cue and am thinking of ordering it for my 21st birthday. I'm aware its a parris cue but parris is a bit out of my price range.

I've been in touch with both companies and Welshpool say they will do me the cue for 135, mastercraft have quoted me 160. My question is has anyone had any experience with both companies? Is mastercraft worth the extra 25 pounds? I know mastercraft will do me a matching solid tulipwood mini butt for an extra 15 pounds. Still waiting on a reply to see if welshpool can do similar or just the ebony.

Both make decent cues and give you far far better value for your money than Parris. Welshpool Tradings Paul aka Bitter on the forum has not been around for a few months now is generally cheaper though. If the higher price is within your budget maybe it'd be best to say to paul do me one for that and pick out a tight straight grained shaft with nice v's. Not that they play any better but they are more desirable with most players and collectors alike and fetch a pemium with all cuemakers.

both are good - the joint does not look like a parris to me.

One of the same aren't they? I mean apart from a badge change I'm pretty sure these cues are identical.

To be honest i don't ever expect to be selling this cue on as it is a 21st birthday present and i've never really been bothered about the grain or arrows on the shaft, it doesn't really worry me. And long as it plays well i don't mind. Thanks for the advice i may be going with the welshpool cue, bitter was on last night actually as his website is down i had to ask for a quote via pm on here.
And when i started this thread i didn't expect to start an argument on parris joints lol

That's a lovely case you have (?) blue and black check pattern. Are they cheddar classics or something? I generally dont like them but that one is sweet colour.

btw. Ive ordered an omin cue from Welshpool and await its arrival. Paul Morris said he'd ship it on tues but has been busy and subsequently said he'd ship on thurs. The cue only has to travel from Wales to Bristol and it still hasn't arrived. Was hoping to go down local club and knock a few balls around to get a feel for it this sunday but as a result, I guess it will be a delayed session.

Will update as I receive the cue and give a review on the welshpooltrading transaction in detail.

                        Perhaps hold off til then?

Thanks that would be great. Thats not my case, it was a picture of a cue from the pictures of your cues thread, basically thats exactly the case and cue i want (ie. im jealous lol).
If you could update me on how it went then that'd be great. I'm leaning towards welshpool at the moment as i've heard good things from both companies.
