yeh i pm'd him to get a quote. He doesn't seem to be on much atm though. I think i'll go with him for my new cue, i was just wondering if anyone had experience with both companies as the mastercraft was more expensive.

just to clarify... the pics not my cue, its a parris off the post pics of your cue thread, but its the exact design i want and i'm hoping to get one very similar. Heres a question, why do the pros only ever have plain ebony or black extending mini butts? I've never seen anyone on tv with a matching one. Even the ones with quite nice cues just have plain black mini butts...sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

Because they are tools to them and so the aesthetics are not as important to them as to us, I'd think. The extending ones only come in black, as far as I know.
Personally, I think that a solid ebony 6" mini-butt adds far too much weight at the end of the cue and so I got mine made in ash, which gives you a nice feel and not too much weight. I know of a couple of cuemakers who have started to do this, in ash or maple, for the reasons I cited above and also it's a good way to use off-cuts!Il n'y a pas de problemes; il n'y a que des solutions qu'on n'a pas encore trouvées.

Yeh this is what i thought, surely you want to add as little weight to the cue as possible to keep the playing characteristics similar? Then i thought the balance might be better if you use ebony, the ni decided i didn't know what i was on about so i should ask!! But from a purely aesthetic point of view im after a solid tulipwood mini butt to match the cue.sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

Yeah, if you're happy then do that, but if you're going to get a matching mini-butt just for aesthetics for £25 then why not ask them to make it good for "playability" purposes as well? Shouldn't cost any extra, it didn't with Trevor. Then you'll have something that'll not only look good but play good as well, all ready to be put into your Johnny Flame case!!Il n'y a pas de problemes; il n'y a que des solutions qu'on n'a pas encore trouvées.
