  • Aurora Cues...The Mystery

    Hi All,

Seeing as most of us have a bit of time to kill, did we ever get to the bottom of the mystery of Aurora cues?

I seem to remember that it was discovered that Airin never existed, Richard I think did.

I had a beautiful Connie rep from them, it was a beautiful cue - like most of the lovely cues, I regret selling it.

Didn't someone mention Airin passed away? I remember Aurora cues from Canada fantastic looking cues.

Airin did not exist, there was only "Richard"
a local person did a search at the time and found NO records of any death in the area they are/were that related to any "Airin" or anyone that possibly could have been.

but to confuse the ,ystery, a person said they met "airin" in person once but possibly it actually was Richard by the description to others who had met "Richard"

      IIRC

I need to lie down now!

Are Aurora still in business, last I heard was that they took orders but did not deliver?
the last date I can find of activity is 2017.
      Up the TSF! :snooker:

Yes I remember now. Richard was Airin and Airin was Richard. Why did he pretend to be someone else? Confusing.

I’ve still got one of their cue towels. Never used it. The idea was that there was one side for burnishing and one side for polishing.

Bog wood v. Air dried ash

So we all know that air-dried old timber is the ultimate ash shaft expression. But could another timber top it, Aurora's timeless maple, that sat at the bottom of lakes for hundreds of years? Cut down by the native Americans, it fell to the bottom of lakes during transport; timeless. Apparently denser than regular maple due to the water pressure, is this a maple expression to rival air-dried ash?

Has anyone played with a bog cue and can they say how it compares to air-dried ash?

its not me asking btw - twas an old splasher....

Master Blaster breathed life into this place, he wound the cue seller's up which I can understand but he had me spraying red wine all over the carpet quite a few times with his wit, the post count went through the roof and there was always something to read whether it made you laugh or annoyed you.
Him getting banned along with the other lad whose name escapes me who worked at Amsterdam Airport and Byrom going killed this place for me, although with everyone stuck indoors due to this mysterious virus maybe it will pick up again, every cloud and all that :@)
It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

Haha nice one, before this nonsense started there was a squad of lads from over your way playing poker in Newcastle in the decent monthly game
