  • Ordered a Mastercraft cue

So I decided to go with Mastercraft. Contact with Dave was very nice and helpful, I felt cared and I think I am in good hands with ordering one of their cues.

I am going to let you know when it arrives and how it plays, but this will not before February as I do have to get some money saved...

    looking forward to get it!!!

Congratulation to the order of a new cue.

    Just because i am curious:
What have been the reasons for going for Mastercraft instead of something else?
    Which one will you get?
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

theyre good cues for the money. i had a custom one made a while back, and although mines a bit whippy (probably my fault as i selected the shaft from a batch) it's well made. and yes Dave is a lovely bloke to deal with... he sent me photos of my cue being made at different stages too

I got a custom made emerald Gem from them and it's nicely made and plays well. It's a bit light for my taste but that's because I didn't specify it properly. I got what I ordered and more than happy with the quality.

Its the main gripe I have about their cues. I went to their unit with a mate of mine to pick up his cue which had been altered and I had a feel of some of the cues on display and nearly all felt whippy. I don't know whether they have the best knowledge of selecting the right shaft or if the quality of ash they have is just below standard but I wasn't impressed.

If anyone is having a cue made by them ask for a stiff shaft as the chances are you will end up with quite a flexible shaft which doesn't really make for a good playing cue.

I'm getting the Eclipse with olivewood.

Main issue was that Dave was really helpful in answering my mails and I felt more welcome at Mastercraft than at other places. As I do not have the possibilty to try out cues from most manufacturers (okay, I can get Riley and BCE here, but...) I just have to select a cue based on the good feeling I have with the people behind it. we'll see.

That was what i thought. It is the same in Germany where you cannot try some cues out and the best you can get is BCE or Riley. So you have to trust and hope the cue will do.

thats cuz some of the cues in their display are sold off as slight seconds.
                usually at a reduced price.
not the same as ordering custom made.

why don't you get some more weight added?

well, I asked for a stiff shaft and am pretty sure I don't get a too whippy one. :snooker:

Mastercraft is not related to Craftsman cues by any chance, right? I dont know why but I keep thinking they are related????
