Yeah that’s always an option if I wanted to in the future, the only reason I went for the full table was because it was nearly as cheap as the cost of steel cushions. So it would have almost been a swap! Or so I thought!.....

I’ve come to the conclusion most players probably aren’t at the level to appreciate the benefit of steel cushion anyway, including myself, so really it doesn’t matter. Whats more important is just having a well kept table to play on that plays straight with a good cloth and I’ll be happy enough for now!

The best thing to do Steve is just keep a look out for some steels ,but don’t worry too much about it ,if a set comes up then all’s good ,if that happens you can always store your standard cushions in the loft or somewhere so the table can be put back to standard at any time .Im not sure there is much in it regarding skill levels with either cushion type ,you get used to playing on certain tables and steels are just another part of table types ,I do prefer them myself but more important is decent northern rubber and a good consistent cloth .

That’s a great attitude to have and I think your spot on about the steels. Keeping your current table in good nick and making sure the cushions down jump like most of the tables in my local club is important .
