  • Rise and fall mechanism stuck

Hi forum folks, first time I've needed to contribute here, though I've found a few old posts very useful in the past.

I have a 1930s -ish Riley rise and fall dining table. Unfortunately one of the kids has managed to get it completely jammed on the diagonal. It won't budge at all. I tried to add a picture to this post but I'm not permitted.
Anyone got any suggestions? Can't believe I've had this 20 years without a single issue!

    thanks

How to add images to your TSF posts
You can use a free image-sharing site such as ImgBB, without registering (you can register for free), to upload your images, you may have to do the β€œnot a robot” checks quickly. There are other image sharing sites as well.
    ImgBB.com
    Click on "Start Uploading"
Browse to the file and select it, click Open
Auto delete image - leave as "Don't autodelete".
    Click "Upload".

Change "Embed Codes" to "BBCode full linked".

Hover over the code in the box, a "COPY" will appear, click this.
Go to your TSF post and paste.
You can repeat for multiple images in a single post.
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

That looks like a very tricky situation, I hope you get it sorted. But I must say, I laughed out loud when I saw the screwdriver and hammer under the table, sorry. Have you tried spraying the mechanism with WD-40? That usually frees up just about anything. Best of luck John,

Don't take my advice but if that was mine I would be tipping that on its side, or even better right over( if I could without damaging it) it feels to me that would be far easier to free with the weight off it.
