Advice on replacing/re-rubbering an original riley snooker table

Hello all, I’m in contact with a fitter who has asked me to remove the cushions of my snooker table myself so that he can re-rubber/re-cloth them, and me to fit them back on. This seems the cheapest way for me to improve the dead cushions on my table.

I’m just hesitant to start mucking around with the table myself. Can anyone provide any advice on removing cushions and how easy/difficult it is to do myself?

Apparently, the original antique Riley snooker tables are a bit of a different ball game compared to more recent snooker and pool tables. See his message below:

Hello, you’re talking different ball game here. Is original Riley table. Now the problem is getting hold of the rubbers. We have done a few of these tables. The size of the rubber is 1\8" and the ones they do now are 1\4". The cushions probably need modification for them to fit if we cannot get hold of the right size. I would not do them on-site. The only way we could do them is if you brought the cushions up here and collect them when ready. You’re looking at around £125 to £150. Will not know which rubbers are on there till the cloth has been removed. There are wooden strips holding the cloth in. If they are damaged taking the cloth off you will need a new set of them. Time scale looking at a few days depending on how long to receive the rubbers. Hope this helps.

slide cushion panels out of cushions to reveal the screws to take the cushions off

if tight unscrew bottom moulding to loosen the panel , screws under the cushion

you may have to lift the leather out the way and ease the panel past the nets to slide them out

they should all be numbered so they go back in original cushions and may have a C on one end for centre , the C goes to centre pocket when sliding back in .
