  • Glass-bedded table with a felt substitute - a material revolution?

    http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2009/0...pool-tabl.html

Obviously the cost of this is extremely prohibitive at present...I do wonder how practical something like this will be for snooker though someday, especially given that while "Vitrik" seems to simulate felt, the article doesn't mention if that simulation includes nap characteristics...

"No drinking or Smoking Over the Table". So reads the annoying sign in any bar with a pool table, a killjoy message which destroys the whole point of playing the game.

what an idiot! one should play snooker, pool, or whatever for the game's sake
and not for "drinking and smoking over the table".

Don't get me wrong. I drink and smoke myself while sitting in the chair (if allowed). But
I would never ever think of doing this directly at the table!

It really is the Frankenstein of pool tables

Only one thing to be said: "Yuck!"

wow it's horrible, im all for modernising a table a bit but that's terrible. I'd be curious to see how the glass plays though.

I think it looks ok as an ornament - but at $26,000 i can think of better things to buy.

I too would like a go on it though!

I think its beautiful, there's something cosmic about it, like playing pool with planets, would love to play on it.
