New dowsing iron rusting

I bought myself a new dowsing iron several months ago, only opened it today and have noticed that the soul plate is rusting in several spots, there wasn’t any protective cover in the soul plate, it was in the plastic bag with the bag of anti moisture gel. It was also in the box hasn’t been left in the car or anything over night so no reason why it would be rusting. Photos attached.

Waiting on toolite getting back to me about it.
