Strachan is a good cloth. Even though some people think there may be better, it's still a very good snooker cloth.

It depends, if you feel you can do it yourself, then do it. If you don't feel confident, get a table fitter. Personally, I would get a table fitter. I'd rather have a selection of good equipment to play and a good cloth fitted well than a not so well fitted cloth and loads of accessories which aren't vital. I'm not saying you wouldn't do a good job, I am just saying it is very difficult.

Table fitters can travel abroad. I am not sure if that would be more expensive than an Australian fitter but you could find out.

700 to 800 AUS dollars = £340 to £390 Pounds , a full recover in the uk on average by a fitter includeing 6811 gold tournament cloth is £365 + vat at 15% current rate total is £419.75 .

that 32 oz 6811 export cloth is cheaper than our 30 oz 6811 tournament gold cloth.
So I take it that a local fitter say within 30 miles of you charging 800 Aus dollars is a fully inclusive price of fitting and cloth supply ?

even if it costs 1000 dollars all in , if the cloth in private use lasts 10 years , thats 100 dollars a year , or approx 2 dollars a day to play on a table that has been fitted correctley , if you fit the cloth youreself and do not make a good job of it , what is youre next move ? get a fitter to recover the table ? so youre back at square one , but the price of the cloth down if it cannot be used again .

oh and a good fitter will also check table level and adjust and also joints of slate , all in with the price of a recover .

Is there a fitter close by or has he to travel many hundred miles to get to you , I find the charge for just labour in Australia unacceptable if he was to do one a day and close by , and most fitters can do 1 and 1/2 easy some times two a day , he would be on £2000 a week = 5 days only , at 2 a day £4000 a week .
if kept busy all year he would be earning approx £100.000 a year on one recover a day labour only ? . thats $204.700 australian dollars a year .
if it was not for all the snakes and spiders I would be over like a shot to earn that sort of money on a 30 hour week . Giving me more time to put a few more shrimps on the barby

I bought it about a month back, and it's very good. Haven't had the guts to recover my own yet, but I'm going to give it a go before the next season starts.
I bought Strachan 6811 package for my full size table off EasySnooker a few weeks back, it came with this dvd which is excellent, me and a mate followed it step by step and despite initial trepidation we've just completed cushion and bed recover and are very pleased with the results not to mention saving a few bob if I'd got a fitter in

All I can say is it worked for us! Did the bed cloth over a few hours one evening, the cushions were the tricky part, took ages with the first one and then gradually got more confident. Great sense of achievement to see it up and running now
