Pool Table Buying Advice

Just like to let you guys know where I am regarding buying a table.
We managed to get the garage properly fixed into a proper room so I have the space and no worrys above damp damage etc.
I bought a crappy premier debut table from argos at christmas for 50 as it was on sale from 250 and its been good fun as a mess around table. I am saving currently and have decided to buy either a
6 x 3 or 7 x 4 supreme winner.
if anyone has any contacts with this please let me know. I will be looking on ebay as well and I think this the best choice for a table. I might just buy it brand new if the difference isn't that much on ebay but the main problems for tables are delivery and set up.
Any advice people would be nice thanks.Last edited by sklskl; 27 July 2010, 10:33 PM.

I'm looking at one from home leisure. http://www.homeleisuredirect.com/lat...ool_table.html
They seem like a good company. 800 for a 7ft delivered and installed, is that a good price? as we're in a recession im pretty sure pool tables arent at the top of the priority list for people so whats my chances on getting a better price?
They have a video showing how to install it which looks simple but this table weighs over 200kg and im sure the slate weighs atleast 100kg. You think its best paying the 99 for the delivery or should I just get a few of us to do it ourselves? Im not sure.

I will visit the showroom or warehouse and check it out before I buy,
Another question I have is that I will be putting it in my garage in the back garden. The garage isn't properly build as in, there are gaps between the garge door and general gaps as the ends of the roofs because it is a metal sheeted roof, so it isnt a properly build garage at the moment.
My concern is would it be ok being in there? In the winter it can get very cold, cold enough where when you breath you can see your vapour and hot enough that its really hot in summer.
Would this affect the table in anyway?
At the back of the garage small pools of water appear near the entrance when it rains but it wouldn't ever reach the front of the garage where the table would be because its big enough to not reach it.
Parents have said that ''damp'' will effect it? I always thought damp would grow from wet conditions exposed to heat without ventilation.
In this case the garage would always be airey if that makes sense.
Thank you in advance cheers

I'm really glad that I found this thread. My husband and I are looking into buying a pool table and we don't know much about billiards so we don't know what we should look for. A neighbor of ours suggested that we look into family leisure pool tables but we would love to hear some reviews before we make any decisions. Thanks for the advice!

A long time before I bought a pool table ping pong combo by just following someone's buying advice. But unfortunately the guide was not just more than an advertisement and I got a loss. So, please if you don't have an honest advice, stay away. Thank you!
