  • Riley Aristocrat

    Hi,
I am now the proud owner of a full size Riley Aristocrat.

I purchased the table from senga147 (now banned for some reason).

We discussed the specifications in detail over a few emails, and finally I decided to go ahead after a lot of thought. There were a few delays in shipment by the courier service, but it arrived in a good condition.

The table was set to tournament specs by senga147 and a very effective "locating pin" method was applied to reassemble it to the right fitting.

    The deal was:
    • Full size refurbished snooker table with:
    • new 6811 strachan cloth
    • New cushions
    • new cushion friezes from Riley
    • italian slates
    • adjustable slate bearers
    • high intensity lights
    • under table heaters
    • rests
    • cues
    • triangle (PRO)
    • used table iron
    • Scoreboard
    • T/C balls

I had a few problems with customs in Kuwait, as they could not understand why a 1 tonne item was shipped as a personal item, but I finally managed to convince them and released the table.

The table was fitted within two days and now plays pretty decently, although I plan to re-level in in a couple of weeks.

The Riley Strachan logo in the photos were printed on transparent stickers just for my pleasure
I plan to get a bronze plate made as well.

I would recommend senga147. He is professional and helpful.

I've attached the logo file in case anyone else would like to use it.

BTW why was senga147 banned? If somebody is banned what is to stop him or her from just reappearing under a different name?

Isn't the lack of carpet under table a problem? It's scary to imagine what will happen when you drop a ball.

It was after a lot of convincing the family that I was able to make room for the table. I'm lucky to have no obstructing pillars. philip, just save some royalty for me from the sale of those stickers
I think senga147's aggressive advertising was not taken well and he doesn't want to come back under a false name, but I have his contact details if needed.

The lack of carpet... yes that is a problem. The carpet didn't come in time and the fitters were going to get busy. So I had to improvise. Balls do drop, but not because of miscues, but rather because of excited toddlers amazed by vivid colours. They can so easily reach the rails. It's scarier to imagine what would happen if they drop the ball on their toes.
Apparently, each ball can take 5T weight. that's almost equal to 5 tables!!!!

On the casting brass plates thread that was on here or hereabouts BTW I have a plastic rack for cues here. I thought that when, eventually, I move I might take down the plastic rack and take it to my friendly brass casting place and get it copied in brass. That would look rather nice on the wall don't you think?

I will look into Star and let you know. The tables that are made here in Chengdu I happen to have prices available. These are for tables complete with cues, balls etc. etc. and installation. I don't have prices for full size tables but the following will give you an idea. These are slate bed tables. They do 2 different qualities so I will give you all the prices I have:

                          JP-B001 3.4 metresx 1.8 metres RMB4,500
                          JP-B002 3.2 x 1.7 RMB3,600
                          JP-B003 2.9m x 1.6m RMB 2,800

                          JP-C001 2.9m x 1.6m RMB1,500
                          JP-C004 2.4m x 1.4m RMB1,200

I suppose the dimensions are the maximum outside measurements.

To convert from RMB to £ just knock off a zero- there are almost exactly 10 to the £. Now Geoff don't jump down my throat when I say this but the B range above are sold as being British type tables. That is what I have got. Finished in brass with good heavy leathers etc. I know virtually nothing about snooker but I have played on plenty of British tables in UK that aren't as good as this one- of course it is brand new and I look after it very carefully whereas others were mess property so maybe weren't looked after with such care.

When, eventually I return to Europe I hope to bring one of their full size competition grade tables with me- well not with me, actually in a container by ship. The guy who makes the tables tells me that his tables are used at national level competitions here. He might be telling the truth. I don't know. A 12' that plays as well as my 10' would be plenty good enough for me to fill in the evenings in my twilight years. Of course if I do ship one to Europe then I shall need a fitter who wants a free holiday to go to my place and set the whole thing up.

For a photo of my table see the photobucket link somewhere on this site. It is the only photo I have posted there. BTW I do NOT look that old. It was an unfortunate photo.

Phil if I was you I would look into bringing a Star back with you it may be a better investment , amazing that RMB 4,500 = £450 , the guy maybe telling the truth that his tables are used in china for the tournaments there , as Star have to wait 3 years due to a contract in china for the current tables used to expire , so Star tables have the rest of the world bar china until 2013 .

so if you can find out what a Star tournament table table with steel block cushions is in china RMB , because over here they are £8000 inc vat ( sorry about the + vat I got it wrong ) I am going to make a guess that the Star Tournament with steel cushions in china is priced below £2000 maybe well less .
