Just read the rest of the post. No, she is his wife. My squaw is safely in China.
I am very pleased with the room. There is plenty of space. I am seriously thinking of doing a specail offer for TSF members. You will need to see my post "Snooker based holidays" on the snooker lounge for details of that, should it happen.
The AC is wonderful!王可

Thanks for dredging this one out from the past. I had quite forgotten it!
If you are a keen player, you will not regret building your own snooker room. Should you ever decide to sell the house, a large room will possibly help you to sell. Perhaps somebody who has a grand piano, or wants a home gym would be interested. So it certainly isn't money wasted!
Plan it all out. Obviously your main consideration is size. You need a MINIMUM of 22' x 16'- that is 4.8m x 6.5m and that is a BIG room. At that you won't get much else in there, so if you can go a bit bigger you won't regret it. Even if it ends up being L shaped the extra space is useful.
Think where you plan to have your lighting and power points. I would suggest the actual table lighting to be on a separate switch . Get loads of it. I have 6, 4' tubes in 3 double units. That gives me 12' of lights which is spot on. Then I have wall lights all round. If I am using the room for another purpose I use the wall lights. Then when playing those go off and the game lighting comes on.
Also plan to have a floor mounted socket under the table. That way you can run a small heater to warm the slates in winter. It is also very convenient when ironing the table.
A room that size calls for a high enough ceiling. Otherwise you will feel as if you are in an air-raid shelter!
Bags of insulation!
Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss any point.王可

I also built my own potting shed fully loaded for 5.5k. That included 100mm insulation, heating, etc etc.
If you're a keen player and have the room then this is highly recommended, best thing I've done. The main cost for me was the concrete base which I had to have a couple of mates in to help me.

oh, and ensure you have 22x16 (or bigger) on the INTERNAL dimensions!, nothing worst than constructing the whole building and find you have 22x16 outside dimensions, minus the walls thickness and you end up having to get a 10x5 table
It has happened before!Last edited by DeanH; 26 September 2015, 08:15 AM.Up the TSF! :snooker:

Because its a coucil house i have to ask if i can build it on there land
Even tho i can legally go upto 30sqm without building regs i still have to wait i think 22x16 is just over
32.7 sqm are they really that picky if i go over slightley?
Maybe go bigger as they go on internalfloor space so if it is 32.7 ill say by the time i boarded and plastered it it will be
30sqm is that somethink i can do?
