It's a Riley Aristocrat Steel Block. The pockets were cut to near tournament openings. I was lucky to get Leighton who is the senior fitter for Riley's and tells me he was involved with pocket opening as the cushions are pre-cut at the factory. I must say they understood exactly what I wanted for my table.
      I cannot complement enough.

What was the reason for having two strips of lights? I am going to be getting my own table soon and I was going to buy one for mine. Doesn't one give off enough light?

Your advice on this would be much appreciated.

I'm sure one would be enough.

However, I got this idea from my local club in Sheffield(Where Shaun Murphy was the resident player). They have 4 matchplay tables in a row. Each has varying amounts of lights. There is definately more pleasure playing under brighter lights.

Shaun Murphy's table had 3 rows of lights similar to mine.

It may be worth you going down to the club to have a look.

I absolutely love my light setting. Mind, it does take a lot of power.

The reason pro's tend to have an awful lot of light is because they are trying to mimic professional playing conditions. If you ever compete at Prestatyn the tables where they play the pro qualifiers are lit up like no club you've ever played in. The lighting for the tv stages of tournaments has to take into account the audience at the venue and the watching crowd at home. Mark Joyce decided to pay for the lights and installation at his local club because he felt the need for his practice conditions to be as similar as possible to tournament conditions.

BTW Snawaz, and I'm not just saying this because you have Riley Aristocrat with excellent lighting, you don't want to marry me do you?

There was a space between my house and the garage. This was dead space which worked perfect for the snooker room. I left it open planned as I felt this would add more atmosphere to the room. I had to have an 8 metre steel beam put in. I have attached plans for the extension below.

                                Hi Mick,

I made these lights myself as I could not find any on the market that suited my needs. I essentially bolted 5 lights together and attached them to a metal frame and suspended them with metal wires. I had the metal frame fabricated from a local guy.

The 2 frames cost me about £60 in total. The wires to hang up the frame cost about £20. The lights are from Cooper Lighting(product code- CVX224S)
which are one of the best in this range, 10 units cost me just under £800(you have to phone around for the best price, I was quoted over £1000 by some electrical distributors). So total price was just under £900 for the whole light setup. Here is the link for these lights:
                                http://coopers.reqio.com/cooperscata...3745791&skuID=

The total length of each row of lights is 10foot and 8 inches and width is 1foot and 8inches.

I have added a couple of links below for ready made lights which would do a similar job to what I have. I hope this helps. If you would like any further advise/details let me know.
