Keeping a table outside?

I'd like to buy a snooker table but unfortunately I haven't got enough space for it, inside my house.
But there's plenty of space on my balcony, so my question is -
Is it worth buying a table and keep it outside?

I know there are some covering I could buy for the table,
and there's also a small roof on the balcony.

but will the covering really prevent any damage ?

Moisture could still work it's way into the wood and cloth over time, so it's probably best not to keep it outside.

Sound as cruel as keeping a cue in the car all the time...

I am sure the temperature differences combined with moisture will ruin the table in a short while.

I have seen special out door pool tables.
I think it wouldn't be fair to a nice snooker table

fair enough, but i a slate bed snooker table will cost more than this, even second hand.

Constant changes of weather and high humidity will destroy the table. It's not worth it. The moisture in Israel reaches 70-80%, just imagine what damage can occur to your table from putting it outdoors.

Is this balcony ground floor or 1st storey because it may become a safety issue if it is not on the ground floor. It would be a shamed to put a snooker table out in the elements.

Given this a bit of thought , I do not normaly recomend this type of table but here we go .

Riley Starline , is a fully enclosed fibreglass shrouded table built in the 1970s , it has a trestle leveling device inside the shroud which is assessable from each end with a removable door , weather would be less of an issue with this type of table , cushions have formica cappings , I would recomend a small oil filled radiator under the slate cavity to help keep warm , a custom made cover to keep weather off in the colder climate .
but with any table outside you will get condensation on the balls .
During the warmer months i think this would work . do a google of riley starline to get a picture of it , it is the second genration one that I am thinkiing of . not the earlier sheerline table which looks awfull .
do not buy one with standard wood cushions as the wood would not stand upto the weather , get the fully enclosed type .

Good news is they always sell at low prices some even given away .
But good luck in finding a fitter who would want to assemble one ...lol

the other issue is weight , will the balcony take the weight ? of around 1.25 ton

You may want to put American pool man made fibre cloth on for outdoor use , as wool will absorb dampness but the radiator under the table will keep it dry , problem being is can you get american pool cloth width of a full size snooker table .

If rain can get at the table make sure a cover is pitched so you may have to make a frame for cover to sit on so that rain can roll off , nothing worse than a puddle of water to get off the table before you can get the Water proof cover off .

So at the end of the day it is possible with the right type of table and cloth .

all those with patio's will now be thinking wow I can have an outdoor table , this should put the demand for starlines up , normaly a table I would recomend for the scrap heap with only the slates for salvage ...lol
