  • Is it a genuine cloth?

I have just had my table recovered. The old cloth does not have the Stroud logo or the two black lines with the roll number between them.
It does have though two blue lines with
(genuine pure quality strachan 6811 tournament made in England) in gold lettering between the lines. This is along the edge of the playing side.
My question is obviously is, is it genuine, counterfeit or something else?
The new one has all the features it should have.
Geoff Large perhaps one for you ?

Strachan 6811 Tournament has two blue lines woven each side of the gold woven lettering , it will also have on the underside a roll number about 6 inches in from the edge , and also on the underside a gold transfer also saying strachan every 10ft , so at least one transfer on a bed cloth . a good fitter will stirve to show his client that it is the genuine thing being fitted , I always do if the owner is around , if not at least someone who can tell them they have seen the writing and transfers .

Thank for that Geoff BUT my question was is it genuine. You mention three things that should be on the cloth. The Stroud logo, the roll number in black and the two blue lines with gold lettering. The cloth that came off had only the latter. No logo and no roll number.
Do you think it is genuine?

Did you have a close look at the cloth ,, as Iv'e said the logo and the roll number 6 inch in from the side , is on the underside and should always be present on the Genuine cloth , the gold Embroidered lettering with two blue lines to read is on the upper side , I have only come across substandard that has no roll number , but they do put a substandard transfer on the underside , it has been known for people to eraze the substandard transfer with ACETONE . and pass it off as a perfect Bed cloth .
I can name and shame at least two Local to me companies who have done this , as I have come across it on my rounds .
it is just not worth a reputation to do such things in order to make a few extra £s .
One thing I will point out sometimes the roll number is very faint to the eye , but the transfer is not .

If you have a bed cloth without a roll number and the transfer , I would be highly wary that it may be a FAKE or substandard , I suggest you contact Miliken who manufacture the cloth to be 100% though. having a roll number is their way of checking for quality control security if a batch gets stolen and fake cloth , if a batch is deamed faulty then it may not carry a roll number , only miliken can varify this .

        Miliken web site .
