The man upstairs doesn't want me to have a table it seems. Keeps sending torrents to the midlands.
The weather's put me back a month, I hoped to be finished, installed and furnished by July. Not likely now.
    In-progress photos are always interesting.

If the positioning is 5ft from the top of the table then they wont be in the way of anything. Spot on . Im in the same boat as pottr , my ground works are due to start Monday weather permitting. Im also looking for July completion and table in during August
    As above
pottr & Gamekeeper: Have you purchased a table yet? What make/model do you have/thinking of getting?
I have recently moved and the wife is coming round to the idea of having a potting shed in the garden.

      @ gamekeeper,

Why not ceiling mount 2 Luminaire LS1200's. I have them in my snooker room, they are fantastic lights and not ugly at all..

      edit:: http://www.rileyleisure.com/store/ac...e/default.aspx

There they are. You can hang them as well (as I have) but can be ceiling mounted too....

I suppose the question of whether they are ugly or not is down to the missus, at least it was in my case. If you get those like the LS1200's mentioned already, you could possibly fix some lengths of stained wood around it to make it look nicer. I was thinking of doing something like that, but i think they look good in my room anyway and i couldn't be bothered with it anymore at the time. They would look better with some nice stained wood wrapped around the edges, but i think the sides of the light casing would need to be flat, and some of them aren't by design.

That is exactly what I plan to do. Clad them in some oak veneered MDF to match my doors and skirting throughout.

Purchased the Riley Aristocrat that Geoff Large recommended through Elston & Hopkin.

I think you need to have made ten posts.

Do you have a photo bucket account?

                    lighting to use

Hi, haven't had time to read the whole thread, but don't buy the luminaire ls1200 lights. What you want is the Dextra Duet twin tube high frequency fittings. If you google Dextra duet, they're on discount electrical and you can pick up a pair for just over £100 total.

The thread of table lighting differences mentioned earlier in the thread, shows these lights in my club and are the same as Joe Swail uses on his table. Mine are 6ft each, but I would go for 2 x 5ft

Snooker table lights BUILT IN ?????????

No probs, those fittings don't come with tubes as I prefer to buy them local in case they break during transit, but make sure to get daylight tubes. Think they're T8 tubes. They're only a few quid each

Bought my Dextra set today. Ran me just under £105.

T8 tubes in Daylight or Cool White I think

Nice one pottr, did you get them off that site I mentioned or somewhere else? And I'll be at my club tomorrow and will check our tubes. I think it's daylight tubes. Think the others give a yellowish tone and not as bright, or good for that matter
