I see often on TV that these STAR tables have light underneath, they are very neat but I cannot figure out how they get power from, anyone know how they work or had experience with tables like that?

now the next question should be why do they have lights under the table answer is simple A GIMMICK
there is no need for lights there but being as most tables these days are sprayed silver or gold painted legs , the lights reflect off these and even ultra violet lighting has been used in the past , why are the legs sprayed in paint ? , it maybe down to the low quality wood that the chinese use to make these tables with , as I cannot think why they would want to hide a very nice flamed mahoghany or nice oak grain .
as for the power socket in the floor it's there for the Slate Heaters not the lights , the lights where an after thought[/SIGPIC]http://www.gclbilliards.com

Just been to watch at Preston last week, I thought the under table lights looked pretty cool!
I'll have tiles under my table and I don't wish to hide them so been looking at adhesive led strips powered by battery packs......should do the trick!

light under the table?
at Newport I saw one of the table fitters go to the corner leg (black end green side) and he slid down the panel at the top and tinkered to something, wires switches. So maybe for tidiness the power comes from the floor inside the leg? Powers the lights, the heaters and the cameras in the pockets.Up the TSF! :snooker:

What next Carbon fibre and pinstriping or maybe disco ball hanging from under the frame ?
That is not being sarcastic to anyone thinking of lighting under a full size snooker table but just my thoughts.
it is a gimmick , it may look good on TV and from above when sat in a seat a few rows back , but sat on a bar stool six foot away from the table you are not going to get the same effect , every person to their their own as they say ,but you had better keep the under part of the table as clean as the surface if you are lighting , some of the tables I have worked on have at least 1/2 inch of dust on the under frame work
and maybe 1/8th of congealed Nicotine , hey I'm not joking ask any seasoned Billiards fitter , sometimes when handling slate my hands look Orange/brown from the 100 years of constant smoke .
Thankfully new tables will now not have that problem.
I can understand lighting up a design feature of some modern engineering space age frame such as this http://elitechoice.org/2010/02/01/dy...table-is-chic/
but to just light up the void between the 8 turned legs of nothingness , there is no point[/SIGPIC]http://www.gclbilliards.com

I actually have a 6' white tube light that runs on a diagonal underneath the Center of my table. It is for sure a gimmick Geoff but does add a very cool look to my old Burroughs n Watts." Practice to improve not just to waste time "
