      Echo the sentiment.

Geoff sorted me out a treat with my Aristocrat and in around 6 months time I'll invite the big bugger back to give it a brand new coat of cloth

It's not just his help when you require a table that you should applaud. Search through the threads on tables. You will struggle to find a question posed on the subject which Geoff has failed to answer... For nothing I might add.

Enthusiasm for one's work is a rare commodity in the world today. We're lucky to have a few guys in this forum community like Geoff, Terry Davidson and Andy Ramsey who find no question too much trouble to find the time to answer. I think it's a point of practice that we support them when we can.

How much difference would those big, turned legs make to the weight of a table?

twice the weight of normal 7 top 8 inch legs , these are around 10 inch , the mass of that extra 3 to 4 inch in circumferance is the equal to the core or standard sized leg .

so if a standard leg weighed in at 5kg then the fatter leg would be near 10kg .

also depends on the density of the wood used too , solid oak is heavy .

I have a few questions about the standard dimensions of table planks; Length width and height please.

                for full size table's

standard modern table slate size is 12 foot by 6 foot 1.5 inch

old tables some are 12 foot by 6 foot dead on , thickness of slate 1 inch to 2 inch but there are some thicker ones around .

as regards the dimensions of wood work there are too many differ ant types , height of tables vary also from 29 inch to over 31 inch

                S no standard size's I am afraid . .

For technical sizes of steels you would have to speak to a table manufacturer such as Thurston or even World snooker , but do not expect them to reveal too much .

If your table is 12 foot by 6 foot 1.5 inch slate then you would have to work out what size cushions you require by the type of pocket plates you will be using , and the size of pocket openings .

I once asked for a set of world snooker templates and a Referee and local coach asked Jason Ferguson if they could acquire a set for GCL billiards for me to use , the answer was NO... he told him there are only three sets in existence one at Star in china , one set at World Snooker and one set with Referee's , all other sets are unlicensed copies , I know some have paper copies and there are a few on this site that have them include myself and probably yourself , but with download size problems they cannot be guaranteed to be 100% correct .
They may license them out in the future for a yearly fee so I have been told , but reading between the lines I think star and world snooker will go up the wall if we where allowed to have them , they have to protect their interests for future work .

The only guaranteed measurement I can give is the slate size of modern slates at 12x6ft 1.5 inch wide .

I was surely asking for the wood work dimensions for and the likes of Riley Aristocrat. Actually my craze for CAD (Computer Aided Design) dictates the need for such dimensional details.

Please do guide me on the wood work dimensions. I've learned from your previous post that the nominal legs are 7 inch thick. What I need to know if the planks are 2 inch thick and 8 inches wide in say Aristocrat tables? Secondly, how much the slate bed is larger than the wooden frame? Three, four or five inches? Or may I put it this way how much it should be?

What about the muntins thickness and width. I guess 2 x 4 inches but I need an expert's word.

I am attaching Star and Aristocrat photos upon which my wild guesses about the dimensions are based.

                  Thank you

PS. I've just view the photo of your van loaded with a dismantled table. Oh the side plank is begging to dimension it!

                      Hi Geoff

Loved your site. Meant to spend a couple of minutes on it but there was lots of great info on there.

I did a slideshow on a snooker club website I built to get them more traffic and they had over 2,000 hits on that alone so we put the company on that page to help them, might be worth a punt for you:

                      http://www.petersfieldbowlingandsnoo...er-table-cloth

I did this site in Joomla but have done a few in Wordpress like yourself as its easier to manage. I notice you didn't have any seo plugins like Yeost SEO which helped on some simple sites as regards keywords.

When you said you wanted to be on the 1st page of google what search words were you using as I didn't know if you managed t be successful?

Great site and lots of information.

Well done mate, hope you're getting some good returns!
