I intend on just using some low wattage lighting, they give off enough heat to keep the moisture down in the cloth, looks cool too. Breaking ground on my snooker room next week :snooker:

just screw the heaters to the frame under the slate ,one beside the pink one beside the blue one on the balk line that should work .

I have gone one step further and fitted 6 x 60w x 4ft heaters to my club table. I have them mounted to the frame so they are kept about 8-10 inches from the slate and evenly spaced. The advantage of this is that the direct heat isn't under any of the slate joints which could cause issues easier.

What I have done though, is hooked these up to a thermostat, so although they do get quite hot, the thermostat keeps knocking them off to maintain an average heat.

Our club can also get quite cold, so placing your hand in the slates only leaves a very mild heat. Enough to keep the cloth dry and add a little speed without risking warping the frame or slates.

One of Joe swails practice tables has the same setup and I just followed suit. Works a treat.

I was considering getting a table to put in my unheated shop but was warned that if the rubbers freeze they are cooked, ruined that is. There is some professional guidence out there but I would simply play around with heat sources to keep the table at a low safe temp. Skirting around the table will hold the heat in and require a lot less heating. This winter I kept an area free from freezing (water pipe) with a 16 watt energy efficient light bulb. Any heat will keep it dry as long as the roof isn't leaking. A small fan or two will help distribute the heat more evenly. KISS

I have my table in a big garage and it can get freezing in there, i was going to buy some tubular heating to fit under the table, but i found that 3 x 2kw plug in heaters which you can pick up for around £15 each are spot on, heats the whole room fine, table runs great and there not even on full power.

I am converting a garage into a snooker room so would it be wise to put underfloor heating in?
I was thinking of laying water pipes connected to the central heating boiler?

I put a table in a Barn coversion last week , the guy had put a grid of underfloor heating pipes in , they where heated by a grid system outside where he put pipes in trenches buried about 4 feet underground to absorb heat , this puts around 65F into the room and he just tops that heat up with his heating system when required .
I must say it is the Best Barn conversion I had seen , the most oak beams I have ever seen too .
And his table was an old thurston which had bleached mahogany frame through being in an upstairs fire station room and being in sun light for years , from large windows both sides of the table , and Rileys had put Oak cushions on it 13 years ago , whoever Riley sent out to look at the table mistook the bleached mahogany for Oak ?
the slates where perfect , not a chip in the joints , and with the solid oak cushions he has a very nice table to play on .

In floor heating is very efficient as the heat rises and you get even heat throughout the room unlike forced air or radiators.

Maybe more pipes underneath the table than around the table?

down here in India we use 9 100 watt bulbs in 3 rows of 3, they keep the table quite warm but the electricity bill shoots through the roof.
