nice looking table. Does it have the adjustable supports in the centre of the slate?
Unfortunately NO, maryfield. It has a "classic" layout. The fitter here did a great job, and for the time being the table seems to be free of noticeable sagging.
Could be a possible retro-fitting in the future?

Geoff, pleased to hear from you again; you incredible, have a solution for everything ...
Just a confirmation: from the pictures it seems that you can install this without removing the slates and working only under the table.
I only wonder how to remove the existing fixed supports, since they are "pinned" to the main frame; will you cut them?
You can buy ready made brackets from Thurstons. These can be retro fitted with the slates on. You would need to cut the existing mountings out. This can be achieved by running a hand saw at each end of the mounting cutting the dowels.

Crystal clear, Maryfield; and therefore I should be able to re-use the actual supports.
Thickness of slate has nothing to do with it. Gravity will bend the thickest of slates if they are not supported. It may take longer but as sure as my arse has a hole in it, it will happen.
