Thurstons full size snooker table age?

I have recently purchased a second hand full size snooker table here in South Africa. I was told that the table was a thurston's table, unfortunately the metal plate was removed many years ago. The scoreboard does have thurston's name printed on it and I also have the framed snooker rules and billiard rules which are dated 1958.

The table legs and frame have the number 7064 stamped into them and the cushions have the number 5372 as well as the two names "A.H.SCOTT" and "JAMES" stamped into them.

I am hoping that someone here will maybe know the rough date of manufacture?

I can provide photos if required, but please remember the table is still in pieces.

I have just received this email back from thurston's in the uk, however I am a bit dubious about the table being so old. Maybe there is someone else on this forum with a similar serial number.

Thank you for your enquiry re the history of your Thurston snooker table. It certainly sounds like a Thurston table from where you indicated the table number was stamped. Unfortunately our records are not complete as they stop at number 7036 and do not start until 7537. These numbers would date the table around the late 1800's. Sorry we cannot be more specific.

Correct until you have over 10 posts you can add attachments but you can use something like photobucket and paste the img code to display the image.

Get some photos of the table, legs and sidings, pockets and I am sure the table gurus on here will be able to get a better date
Who knows you may have a table from that 1800s

One point is that plenty of older tables are hybrids. So you might have a Thurstons frame but what the rest is- well let's see the photos.
