  • Tips for reducing table sounds in apartment

    Hi,

I have a new apartment and i'm going to buy a pool table. Yay me, but maybe not yay for my neighbors. I'm afraid that the sound the table will make will reach my neighbors. I don't want that. Even if my neighbors don't mind it I still don't want it.

My question: Do you have some tips for me that can help me reduce the sound that the table is going to make? (Without costing me a fortune and without destroying my interior since it will be in my living room and I don't want cardboard boxes on my walls :P)

Info: My neighbors are above me, below me and one on my side.
The floor and ceiling are both concrete.
Going to get a 7ft combi table that also function as a dinner table and has 3 sheets slate in it probably.

And for my side question: Which neighbor is likely to have the most impact of the table sounds? I'm guessing my neighbors that are below me since the sound is traveling through the legs of the table?

    Thanks

What is the floor surface? I would think the sound of you walking round the table would be equally annoying. If you are on carpet I don't think there is much else you can do. I doubt if the noise will be a huge problem. Is it any more than somebody playing a TV?

I will get a carpet under the table. There are wooden floor panels on top of concrete. People below wont hear me walking because of the concrete. However the ticking of the balls will probably travel through the walls.

I think you are looking for a problem which does not exist.

Besides my table in Europe I have a 10' table in China. At one stage that was in a hallway outside 4 apartments. The sound insulation was none xistent but it never caused any problems.
