Hi Leo
I have to disagree , I get enquiries asking for square legged oak table all the time .
I give advice if I see a home that would suit a square legged oak table I am never afraid to push the owner to have one , putting a Mahogany turned leg table into a house or Barn with oak fittings is like putting a round peg in a square hole .
And if you looked at the two links of the square legged riley Viceroy and Imperial , both these clients asked for Square legged Tables after I gave them the advice on what would suit their Homes and rooms .
and they where delighted with the outcome .
Most modern homes are now being built with oak fittings like doors cupboards and skirting .
And with most square legged table being lower cost option than turned legs , they can also pick more of a Bargain up .
Take a look at this room do you think this Mahogany table fit's in well with the rooms decor http://gclbilliards.com/wp-content/u...-top-plate.jpg
So at the end of the day some people will opt for a square legged table if it suits their home better , after all a square legged version of a riley has the same playing surface design in slate and cushions as a turned legged table their is no difference to how the table plays , why would someone overlook what would fit into their decor , they still have an option of finding a turned legged oak table if they really wanted some fancy design rather than go Contemporary . like this http://nottinghamsnooker.com/gcl2/wp...2-recover1.jpg
Even professionals have had square legged tables to practice on in the past at their home , look at this Ex Anthony hamiltons table he was playing on from an early age to his early 20s , ok he has moved onto a riley aristocrat at a later house move , but he honed his skill on this table to make the top 16 in his day , it did not bother him that it had square legs http://gclbilliards.com/re-rubber-re...snooker-table/
