OK, newbie on here, go easy guys!

Finally, after many years of dreaming, it might actually make reality - my own full size table...............so, what should I look for??

Is the Riley Aristocrat the Rolls Royce of tables and if so, why??

What difference does steel block cushions make over 'non' steel block cushions?

Would a refurbed Aristocrat be a better buy than a new table from say FC snooker?

Any reviews / experiences on FC tables at all?

In the North West (Blackburn), any companies locally that would be good to talk with

    TIA

This is one supplied by F C snooker of Preston when it was new a Dining snooker 8ft , plastic slips and QC quality control sticker on cushions led to me believing it was an import table , the Design and build quality of the lifting mechanise is shocking , the wood that the dining lifters was just glued to the slate they where jamming and the wood just came off the bottom of the slate .
I did rectify this with a fixed height sub frame . and scrapped the lifting function all together , it is not a dual height diner any more.

Any import Chinese table is going to throw some sort of design or even materials quality issues over UK made tables , but mind you there where thousands of 1980s UK made tables out there not much better and some worse .
OK I know they are selling to a budget , but some are not much less than good quality tables .
they look nice when they are new , but if they do not perform as intended then they should expect some flack over build quality issues like this 8ft Billiard diner.

I am just grateful I do not sell tables and only maintain and service them , it is a mine field out there, you are doing right by asking on this snooker forum Advice into buying a table .

I am not saying there are no imported tables that would be a fair buy , but if in 100 years time they are still standing or being used is the test of time , many old tables are also worth a look at , as the old Welsh or Irish slate is the best you can buy , most modern tables have Italian slate , the slate today could be from anywhere , Brazil ./ Portugal / China, and I do believe some of the Italian quarries have stopped making them because they cannot compete with the Chinese prices .

just click on link to see the 8ft Billiard dining table

and if it is an old table you require then have a look at this nice Orme and sons for £1000 direct from the owner in private use in Huddersfield and still set up so you can pop over and try it before purchase .

You need 10 posts to PM.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
          I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
