Still, I'm quite sure that like a lot of snooker fans, Russian Pyramid fans would probably think that TV tables have buckets for pockets, that their clubs have it much tighter...etc...

Let me see if I understood that, you can use any ball as the cue ball ,but it must be a different ball every shot, in offs and pots count as a score, you play down to the last two balls, whoever gets the most points wins the frame? Anywhere near? No watched a bit more that's not right as Strickland used the same ball twice in a row.

russian pyrmid is a blast, 12'ft is size but there is 10's pockets are 74mm and balls are 68mm, its atight fit ,alot of in-offs with spin to help the ball it go in

a shot like the pink on its spot straight in 6 inches from the ball takes concentration,cues are 64inch ,24-26oz (my arm was about to fall off after 10 min with those sticks lol)
theres different variations of the game but first guy to make 8 balls winsthe frame
theyr playing any ball ,i've played the one where you have to hit the yellow to make a ball or go in off the yellow in off lets you remove any ball of choice then you play ball in hand
alot of powering the ball in i think the ball squeeze the cushion on the way in to help it

I think even 72mm and cushions and pockets are totally different. Plus balls are much heavier (200+) and cues usually 700g+. Actually, it's not sooo hard as it seems due to greater size of balls and obviously less accuracy needed, and you are right: heavier balls allows to "press in" the pockets edges, so mostly power shots played and probably more "own" balls potted (when cue ball goes in) then object balls. And there are many games played on such table. Most popular - Pyramid (any ball by any ball) and Moscow - one cue ball only, but also can be potted. I guess 95% of billiard tables in ex-USSR countries (except baltic) are for russian pyramid. BTW, seen one of snooker pro playing pyramid - polish player Filipiak.

Hi could one of the lads who have played this explain to me what's going on at 11.40 on the video, Strickland pots a ball but the ref replaces it at the back of the pack why was this, I didn't see him replace any others.

On the first shot there was a foul. 3 balls must touch the cushions after break. If no balls potted before a foul, then it must be replaced as soon as player pot the ball. Actually the rules are much easier then in snooker.
