I am glad you didn't think I was patronising you! It is surprising how many people have a "big room" and assume a table will fit and they will be able to play on it! You need 22' x 16' which is a big room! The resultant photos can be hilarious although the owner rarely sees the inherent humour!

    Good luck with the table.

                  Leo

it is not stinging , when a van costs in excess of £25000 and you also have to maintain it then 50p a mile is the norm , especially if you want to replace it for trouble free motoring every 4 years
all removals firms charge traveling at 50p per mile into any quote so why should a snooker table move be any different
all my 50p per miles goes back into the van to maintain and tax and insure plus replace when the time comes , even at that price I will have to put towards it out of my own pocket to replace.

Well said Geoff. Does it really matter if the mileage is included in the price or charge separately? May be psychological but at end of the day the van and its upkeep has to be covered.

Thanks for the support on this Maryfield

I am not a person who is trying to hide things ,and when I quote for work I like to give a full breakdown of itemised costs , this is being open and honest with the client . so I do get annoyed when people say it is stinging people to charge for vehicle use that I have to pay for .

I do not hide the traveling costs and van use , a snooker table weighs from 1 ton to 1.5 ton , this takes it out on brakes / suspension / and clutch and tyre wear , all require an upkeep

the closer you live the lower the cost , one thing that does go in my favour is that I do not charge VAT , and that saves 20% on the whole costing , swings and roundabouts , as they say charge for one thing but not for another .
I think you will find the costing's of my firm is on par and even lower cost option with others , one thing you can be sure of , the workmanship and transportation of your table is in professional hands and not some van and a man delivery firm .
if I did not move tables I would not require such a large vehicle with it's lower MPG and running service costs or insurance , a small service van that will do around 60mpg would also mean lower pence per miles to travel , say 25p per mile ?

I could then just rent a van out for table moving , but then again would I then have to add the cost of rental and damage wavier plus risk a £200 excess fee if I scratched it , and again the high fuel use , so I would be back at square one with a 50p per mile charge to compensate for it.
